Pro Tips on Packing Dishes for Your Move

When it comes to packing dishes for a move, all you need are the proper supplies and a little bit of patience, and you are good to go. Here are some pro tips and tricks on how to pack dishes for a move.

  • You do not need bubble wrap. When loading fragile items into boxes or crates, your first instinct is probably to run to the store and buy a lot of bubble wrap. However, there is actually no need to use it. While bubble wrap is surely helpful, it is pretty expensive and, quite frankly, wasteful. You can get the same protection with more environmentally friendly materials.
  • Packing paper is a must. Every item should be meticulously wrapped with paper before it heads to the boxes. Experienced movers also recommend laying down a thick layer of crumpled paper on the bottom of the boxes for extra buffer. Many people make the mistake of using newspapers because it is cheaper, but ink can easily stain dishes. This may not always be possible to wash off, so it is best not to risk it.
  • Use a lot of tape. Packing dishes is a simple chore. Your last step is to tape every single dish carefully to ensure that the packaging will not open during transportation. It is a must to pay keen attention to the bottom part and shield it from impact damage, so use as much tape as necessary. To speed up the process, use a tape gun.
