If there’s one moving tip that we keep going on and on about, it’s this: label all your moving boxes properly. Not only does labeling make it easier for you to sort your stuff before you move, but it also makes unpacking into your new location less complicated. But for some people (including us!), labeling your boxes simply isn’t enough. So, we’ve put together three pro tips to take your labeling game to the next level.
1. Develop Your Own Color-Coding System
If you want to get a little fancy, consider color-coding your moving boxes. Packing tape is available in a wide variety of colors, or you can simply use colored markers. Try to stay away from colored duct tape as it can make opening your boxes difficult. Color-coding by room is an easy way to keep things organized during a move.
2. Use Stickers
This is a fun way to get your kids involved in packing. If you have small children, then you probably already have cute little stickers lying around the house. Give your kids their own boxes to put their stuff in, and ask them to embellish it with stickers so that they can easily be identified. Just be sure that you use stickers that don’t easily fall off.
3. Label All the Sides of Your Boxes
Once you’ve settled into your new home, your movers will want to know which box is going where without having to turn each one over trying to read the label. By taking an extra minute to label all sides of the boxes, you can make it a lot easier for your movers to deal with those heavy boxes.
