Unpacking isn’t the only thing you need to do once you’ve moved into your new home. You also need to do these tasks.
Check Your New Home or Apartment for Signs of Damage
This is the first thing renters should do, just in case they’ll have to move out in the future. Take pictures of cracks, and take notes of signs of damage. This is to prove that you aren’t the ones responsible for the cracks.
Put the Boxes in Their Corresponding Rooms
If you labeled your boxes and hired movers to transport them, you need not worry about this. The movers will handle this. But if you asked your friends to help you out with the moving, you need to sort the boxes yourself.
It might be tempting to pile the boxes in just one room, but don’t because that will just make unpacking messier and harder.
Unpack and Assemble All the Essentials
The essentials include toiletries, bedding, personal care items and pieces of furniture you’ll be needing soon like the bed, the kitchen table and some chairs. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to finish unpacking at the end of the day, so you might as well unpack the things and assemble the furniture you need.
Clean the Rooms You’ll Be Using Frequently
And, since it will take some time to fully settle in, you should take note of the rooms you’ll be using frequently. Clean those first. We suggest starting with the bathroom.
If you find all of these tasks a bit overwhelming, there’s always the option of hiring a moving company to help you with unpacking your belongings and organizing your new home.
