Moving Day Guide to Packing Glassware Dishes

Moving into a new home is hard work, especially when transporting fragile dinnerware. We hear you. That’s why we created a nifty guide to packing them neatly and safely from one place to another. Your top moving company, Around Town Movers, discusses the four things you should do.

Use Sturdy and New Boxes

Old boxes might not hold heavy glassware firmly and safely. Softened cardboard boxes are more advisable for packing clothes or light items. For moving plates and other fragile kitchenware, always use new boxes, crates or hard plastic box organizers.

Wrap Dishes in Newspaper or Bubble Wrap

Moving day means you’ll need a lot of newspapers or bubble wrap to secure your fragile household items in the truck. And, the proper way to tuck them into boxes would be to wrap them individually before wrapping them whole.

But before doing so, you should fill the box or crate with newspapers, too. This fills up excess space inside the box so your dishes would be cushioned and well-protected even during sudden movements.

Label Your Boxes Correctly

Our local movers are always careful in loading your stuff in our truck. But in stacking boxes, they have to know what’s inside each one, especially if the contents are fragile, such as your dishes. This helps them take extra precaution in handling your specific boxes.

Make Use of Towels

To further protect your dishes, especially if it takes several hours before reaching your new place, you should tuck towels in your dish box, too. It’s a win-win situation since you get to pack your towels and keep your plates well cushioned and tucked in tight.

Our movers take good care of your stuff when moving into a new home, whether locally or long-distance. We guarantee a stress- and worry-free moving day for you and your family.
