Is it your first time to move?
Whether you are moving to a new apartment or moving your office to a new location, you need all the help you can get. Around Town Movers, with its 35 years of experience in the industry, has compiled a list of some do’s and don’ts to guide you.
DO’S
1. Do take time to find the right mover for you.
Not all moving companies are made equal. If you are moving to an office, make sure to pick experienced office movers. Residential movers might not fit the bill. Commercial relocation usually demands more rigorous planning, such as fulfilling building and parking requirements. Faster timelines are required to reduce the disruption to employees and customers.
2. Do measurements prior to moving day.
Take measurements of your new place. Measure the width and height of hallways and doorways. This will avoid wasting money just to bring in bulky furniture that will not fit.
3. Do label your boxes diligently.
Unpacking will be a lot easier if your boxes are properly labeled. Apartment movers advise making sure to write down its contents, handling instructions and its room destination.
DON’TS
1. Don’t pack your valuables into the moving truck.
Always keep jewelry, money and other important documents with you. Also pack an essentials bag that you can easily access without having to open boxes. This contains items that you will need on moving day or on the first few days, such as basic toiletries, a change of clothes, keys, medication and wallet.
2. Don’t overstuff boxes.
Heavy boxes increase the chances of damaged items since they’re harder to lift and carry.
3. Don’t forget to conduct a final inspection.
Before the truck leaves your old residence, make sure to conduct a final sweep on all the rooms to ensure that no items are left behind. Also, do this for the moving truck to make sure that everything has been unloaded into your new place.
