Winter Essentials to Pack Before Moving

Moving or traveling in winter has its challenges. But with enough preparation and the help of professionals, a move in winter can go smoothly.

In addition to the usual preparations (like placing electronic gadgets in waterproof containers and inside your car where it’s warm), we recommend always keeping these winter essentials close at hand:

Extra Clothing Layers

It would be a good idea to keep extra clothing layers, hats, gloves, scarves and blankets in your car in case temperatures drop further below zero, and you get stuck somewhere.

Hot Drinks

A cup of hot chocolate or apple cider can warm you up if it gets too cold on the way to your new home.

Prescription Medication and a First Aid Kit

You can never know when a medical emergency will happen, so it’s best to prepare for them by packing your prescription medication, some supplements and a first aid kit.

A Power Bank, Chargers and Adaptors

The last thing anyone wants in the middle of a winter move is a dead cellphone battery, which is why you should keep a power bank with you at all times.

Important Documents

Do you or the movers need to present entry passes or documentation before they can access your new apartment or enter your new building? If yes, don’t forget to keep the entry pass, along with other documents you might need, in an envelope, so you can quickly hand them over upon entry. And don’t forget to ask the property manager about the procedure for moving into your new place.

Salt and a Shovel

If you’re moving into a new home, it would be a good idea to bring with you some salt and a shovel in case snow is blocking your new driveway or walkway. Make sure to pack them last, so you can access them easily when you need them.
